CHILD HAVEN GANDHINAGAR

Right, some of the destruction in Bhuj a year after the earthquake. The rubble is hard to clear up because of metal rods connecting the whole unit together. Bonnie Cappuccino was asked by Gujarati Societies in Canada to visit Bhuj. She made the 8½ hour trip on 3 November, 2001. As the rented car got closer to Bhuj, the road became more deteriorated.

They stayed in Bhuj four days, and made contacts there. It seems that the best way Child Haven can be of help is to provide shelter for children orphaned or otherwise affected by the earthquake. At present we have four such children. It is expected that when the government stipend runs out, some families may not be able to afford the care, and more children will come to Child Haven.
