On one of Bonnie's journeys, some Chinese officials stopped her. They asked her: "Are you one of these well-meaning people who start something in Tibet and then never come back?" Bonnie said she was committed to very long term. Next they asked: "Do you go up to the monastery?" Bonnie said when she first came she visited the monastery twice, but hasn't gone recently. They said, "That's good, because they're political up there."

This was our first contact with Chinese officials, and Bonnie was encouraged to note a tacit approval of what Child Haven is doing.
