Child Haven opened its first home in Dhanera, Banaskantha district, Gujarat in 1985.
In 1989, the home was moved to a cottage in a mango orchard in Changa. The use of the cottage was donated to Child
Haven by the family of the late owner, Sindhuben Joshi, a beloved social worker with the women and
children in and around the village of Changa. The home was later moved to Gandhinagar, capital of Gujarat State,
"the greenest capital" city in the world.
We have 55 children ranging in ages from two to sixteen. They attend public (Gujarati language) school and are tutored in English and other subjects in the home.
